Education: New syllabus for Telangana Students

School students in Telangana are not likely to receive their textbooks at least for some time, even after the beginning of the next academic year. The inordinate delay is because Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is yet to approve the new syllabus. While the State Council of Educational Research and Training had made changes proposed by the Chief Minister, the file is yet to be cleared by him. It is learnt that the file has been with the Chief Minister for quite some time.

Sources close to the Chief Minister said that Rao wanted to give the final nod for the changes after the Assembly sessions as it was not of prime importance. However, due to busy schedule, the Chief Minister could not clear the file, sources added.Going by the inordinate delay in clearing the changed syllabus, the school students are not likely to receive their textbooks even after their schools reopen on June 1.

In the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government, textbooks for class IX and X were given to the students before they the vacation. “Textbooks delay is not a new thing and it has been happening over the years. This year, the government decided to make some changes in the syllabus, hence there is some delay,” said government sources. While on one side, the textbooks are waiting for the approval, on the other side, papers for printing are yet to be given to the printers for printing the textbooks.

An official of SCERT said that tenders were called for supply of white paper, but printers are yet to receive the paper. In the wake of formation of new State of Telangana, the government has decided to revise the curriculum of Telugu and Social Studies and also constituted a subject-wise committee for the same.

  1. This year X exam from Telanagana board with New CCE system proven very very tough. Mathematics, English and Physics Exams were extremely touch. even teachers could not solve these papers. government should advise teachers to check & award the marks for grade X students with due consideration. Less marks in grade X means the students would not be able to choose the desired subjects in intermediate.
